George Hoag Family Foundation

  Grant Amount: $300,000

George Hoag Family Foundation provides funding for safety net and basic needs programs.

Giving is limited to California, primarily to southern California, with an emphasis on Los Angeles, and Orange County. The foundation does not provide support for government agencies, tax-supported projects, or sectarian or religious organizations for the benefit of their own members. The foundation does not make grants to individuals, or for deficit financing or normal operating expenses.

Prospective and returning applicants will begin the process by completing an online eligibility survey. If an organization is found to be eligible, they will be provided with an online link to a letter of inquiry submission form. This form will provide the Foundation with concise information about the organization, as well as outlining the aims and specific needs of the grant request.

If upon review of the letter of inquiry, the grant request is found to be a fit with the Foundation’s mission and funding priorities, the applicant will be provided with an application along with an invitation to apply.

The eligibility survey may be submitted at any time. The deadlines for invited applications are March 31 and September 30, annually.

Based on the Foundation’s mission, funding priorities, geographic area of support and current granting, do you believe that your organization is a strong candidate for consideration?

Is your organization an independent 501c3?

Has it been over 12 months since your last funding request?

If you have received a previous grant from the Foundation, have you submitted a report on that funding? (new applicants select yes)
