Job Details

General Responsibilities

  1. Ensures that all duties and responsibilities of the Lead Teacher is met in the absence of any Lead Teacher


  1. Administrative:
  2. Responsible for scheduling staff in accordance with licensing requirements and site needs.
  3. Mange all aspects of employee relations for all teaching staff in the center, i.e. participates in pre-screening of potential employee, conducts orientation for all new employees, and recommends terminations.
  4. Responsible for maintaining enrollment at full capacity.
  5. Reviews performance of staff, substitutes, student teachers, and volunteers that is conducive for learning and job satisfaction/development for staff.
  6. Supervise, evaluate, counsel, and discipline all employees with regard to personal and professional conduct and performance.
  7. Responsible for meeting all licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and Title 5.
  8. Responsible for review and oversight for accuracy of records including but not limited to: enrollment, meal applications, bank deposits, attendance cards, Center Track (web based enrollment management system), incident reports, staff supervision, meal counts, daily log records for infant and toddlers, curriculum, child observations/portfolios, and parent participation.
  9. Conducts monthly parent and staff meetings, and formalized in-service trainings according to staff development plan.
  10. Conducts quarterly Parent Advisory Council meeting.
  11. Monitor and manage staff schedule, attendance, vacation time, TimeRack (web based employee timekeeping system), etc., for efficient program operation.
  12. Maintains confidentiality of children, families and employees.
  13. Monitor facility service contractors (Ex: air conditioning, lawn care, building renovations, upkeep, etc.)
  14. Responsible for verification of the DRDP Tech accuracy and implementation.
  15. Keeps inventory orders and purchases site supplies as needed
  16. Participate in Monthly Operations Meetings
  17. Health and Safety
  18. Provides a pleasant, safe, and clean environment for children and staff that are conducive for learning and job satisfaction/development for staff.
  19. Assures that facility maintenance is completed in a timely fashion.
  20. Assures that fire and earthquake drills are conducted monthly.
  21. Maintains monthly health and safety checklist.
  22. Direct Service
  23. Over-sees the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children according to Agency Standards and the Annual Self-Assessment.
  24. Using a team approach over-sees the implementation of individual goals and objectives that are set for each child through their IEP or developmental assessment.
  25. Work with Lead Teachers and FSA Clinic staff to observe, document, meet with families, and make referrals to appropriate services.
  26. Greets children, parents, staff and guests.
  27. Meets the individual needs and interests of children in relation to their cultural, social and economic background.
  28. Provides quality services to children and their families in accordance with NAEYC standards.
  29. Ensure compliance with all standards, agency philosophy, and Title V and Title 22 regulations.
  30. Work in classroom as needed.
  31. Financial
  32. Collect all childcare and other incidental fees.
  33. Verify accuracy of all deliveries.
  34. Operate the program within the confines of the budget and make recommendations in conjunction with budget planning processes.
  35. Submit any request for petty cash expenditures with original receipts for reimbursement.
  36. Maintain inventory records of supplies and equipment. Report any transferring, removal, discarding of any inventory item to CDC Administration.
  37. Conduct parent and FSA staff based fund raising efforts.
  38. Agency Promotion
  39. Work as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of FSA.
  40. Participates in activities that furthers own professional growth.
  41. Provides accurate program information. Gives tours of site and classrooms.
  42. Maintains and encourages professional, positive, constructive communication with children, families, and staff.
  43. Develops and maintains positive communication with public and private agencies (including school districts, regional centers landlords, etc.)
  44. Represents the Agency at community functions as needed.
  45. Assists other centers when requested.
  46. All other duties as assigned by Program Specialists, Child Development Program Administrator or Child Development Chief Operating Officer.

  • Punctual and Regular Attendance
  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/ or Program Administrator and Chief Operating Officer.
  • A. in Early Childhood Education, Human Development or related field and minimum 2 years teaching experience and 2 years of supervision experience documented and verified.
  • Meet Title 5 and Title 22 requirements to qualify as a fully qualified site director including 3 units of administration and 3 units of infant care.
  • Permit from the Department of Education at the Site Supervision level or Program Director level.
  • Maintain a clear and active exemption-free status with Community Care Licensing for the duration of employment with FSA. (Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index)
  • Able to stand three to four hours per day and to sit on the floor as necessary.
  • Completion of CCL Components 1&3.
  • Ability to provide leadership, accept responsibility, work independently and set own goals in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously and able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
    Other Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write English and to communicate at the level requited for successful job performance.
  • Background Fingerprint Clearance exemption free (Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index).
  • Pass a health screening, TB, and drug screening.
  • Ability to work with disabled students.
  • Valid California Driver’s License or Ca. ID and proof of Automobile Insurance.
  • Current EMS approved pediatric CPR and First Aid Certificate (As required by Licensing). And responsible to maintain current certificate throughout the term of employment.
  • Travel as needed to agency, community and state functions.
  • Professional Self Development - Attend workshops, conferences, college classes, or in-service staff development opportunities as recommended and/or provided that enhances skills and knowledge in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, and as required to maintain the appropriate and required Child Development Permit and/or lead to degrees.
    Licenses & Certifications: Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director level. Physical & Mental Demands:
  • Ability to stand three to four hours per day and to sit on the floor as necessary
  • Ability to bend, lift 40 pounds and carry out the physical duties associated with working with young children.
