Information

The California Department of Education is accepting applications to the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program.
Funds are available for eligible elementary school sites to provide students with a variety of free fresh fruit and vegetable snacks during the school day as a supplement to, and not part of, the school breakfast and lunch programs, and to teach students about good nutrition. The FFVP encourages schools to partner with other entities in the community to support their efforts.

Please be aware that this is a reimbursement grant.

Eligibility

Public school districts, county offices of education, direct-funded charter schools, private schools, and residential child care institutions who are SFAs are eligible to apply on behalf of elementary school sites that participate in the National School Lunch Program, have 50 percent or more of its students eligible for free or reduced-price (F/RP) meals, and agree to provide free, fresh fruits and vegetables to all enrolled children during the school day.
