The California Department of Education is accepting applications for the Literacy Coaches and Reading Specialists grant program FY 2025-26.
Funding is available for county offices of education, school districts, and charter schools to develop school literacy programs, including dual language immersion and other programs for multilingual learners, employ and develop literacy coaches and specialists, and develop and implement interventions for pupils in need of targeted literacy support, including English learners.
Grant Amount
Funds are allocated on a per-pupil basis using school site enrollment as of the 2024-25 CALPADS Fall 1 Certification for kindergarten and grades 1 to 3. An LEA shall receive no less than $450,000 per eligible school site. For purposes of allocations and apportionments, a locally funded charter school is included with the chartering authority.
