Not only do nonprofit organizations provide services that improve the well-being of community members, they also support the local economy by offering job opportunities and purchasing goods and services from local businesses. San Bernardino County nonprofit organizations perform the function of primary employer by bringing dollars into the local economy. They spend money on payroll, goods and services, and construction. Now through the San Bernardino County Capacity Building Consortium Nonprofit Economic Impact Report, nonprofits’ economic contributions have been quantified, demonstrating that the nonprofit sector is an engine of economic activity.
